16 miles. Blacksmith Fork Canyon. I ran 17 today but didn't count the last mile that gains 400 feet in elevation, that one always ruins my average pace - call it a cool-down.

Was close to goal marathon pace through 14 miles and then made a conscious decision to slow down and see if I could turn this into a longer run. About mile 15 I bonked (possibly could have needed a better dinner last night). Hopefully there was some physical progress made today, because I sure didn't gain any mental confidence.

I would say if you hit 14 miles at close to marathon pace, that definitely was a big physical gain, and should be a mental confidence booster as well! You're a fast runner - running marathon pace for that long in training is really hard to do.

Thanks Jake, I really appreciate your encouragement and insight. I think the reason I was discouraged yesterday is because I felt like I was working a lot harder than I should have been to achieve that pace. 12 more miles? Yikes!

Thanks again for taking the time to comment! You are an amazing runner!

solid run, maika. that fact that you can go 14 at that pace on a solo training run is a great sign. the pace will feel much easier on race day.

Thanks Allie! Wish I was closer to SLC so I could be a part of all the great group runs that go on down there!
